The Reverend Dr. R.J. Chandler Sr. is a native of Buffalo, NY where he answered the call of God into the Christian Ministry in 1997. Dr. Chandler is the former Faculty Senate President and currently the Lead Faculty of Architecture and at Delaware Technical Community College in Dover, DE.
In 2005, he was appointed by the Right Reverend Warren Matthew Brown to the CH Foggie AME Zion Church in Bridgeville, DE. Upon his arrival, the church was abandoned. He reorganized and renamed the church into Liberating Power African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. In October, 2016 Dr. Chandler planted the Transformation AME Zion
Church in Dover, DE and was appointed by the Rt. Rev. W. Darin Moore (Presiding Prelate of the Philadelphia

Baltimore Annual Conference of Mid-Atlantic Episcopal District) to the historic Scott African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Wilmington, DE. He currently pastors two congregations.In 2016, the Lord led Dr. Chandler to organize the Stephen Gill Spottswood Acolytes of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
At the 51st General Conference in July 2021, the denomination ratified three resolutions authored by Dr. Chandler to establish the new juvenile ministry in the life of the church under the authority of the Christian Education Department.
Dr. Chandler is a community leader and activist who serves on the Board of Education of the Polytech School District, Downtown Dover Partnership, Delaware State Review Board for Historic Preservation, and Neighborhood Revitalization Committee of the Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity. He is a member of the NAACP, American Institute of Architects and the noble bond of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.
Dr. Chandler is the author of “The Little Book of Prayers, God Help Us and the Acolyte Manual of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, numerous scholarly articles and writings (www.revrjchandler.com).
Having attended Howard University, Pastor Chandler earned a Bachelor of Architecture and Planning, Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Education from Argosy University.
Dr. Chandler is married to the Reverend Shameka LaKiya Chandler and the father of Reginald Jermayne Jr., Riley Josiah, Reid Jeremiah, and Raelyn Joy Chandler where they live in Felton, DE.
